Custom Pool and Spa Design
Are you ready to see your dream backyard come to life with a pool and spa designed just for your family? At Azalea Pools and Outdoor Living, we believe that extraordinary outdoor spaces start with a personal connection. As a premier gunite (also known as concrete or shotcrete) pool company serving the Triangle, we have spent over twenty years helping neighbors transform their backyards into warm, elegant retreats through thoughtful design and true craftsmanship.
Our team brings together a deep well of expertise to every project. We are proud to be one of the few teams in North Carolina with a licensed general contractor and a licensed landscape contractor on staff. This specialized background as a licensed pool contractor allows us to handle the heavy lifting and technical details with care. We make sure your new outdoor sanctuary feels like it was always meant to be part of your home.

Custom Pool Designs Tailored to Your Vision
We specialize in luxury custom concrete pools that are built to fit your lifestyle as much as your landscape. Whether you are dreaming of a sleek linear pool or a natural freeform layout, we believe your pool should be as unique as your home. From the calming sound of a waterfall to the seamless edge of an infinity pool, we help you choose the features that make your space feel like a true getaway.
Every project we take on starts with a detailed plan that is built directly into our custom pool installation process. Our 3D designs let you walk through your future backyard before we ever break ground, giving you peace of mind in the final layout. Because we manage everything in-house as your pool builder, you get a personal, hands-on experience from the very first sketch to the day you take your first dip.
Our Professional Design Process
Discovery Consultation
Every project begins with a personal phone call with Will. This is a chance for us to get to know each other and for you to share the vision you have for your home. Will loves talking through the possibilities and explaining how we approach building a pool that lasts. This initial chat helps us make sure our family’s expertise is the right fit for the dream you’re looking to build.
On-site Consultation
If we feel like a great match, the next step is a visit to your home. Will will walk your property with you to see how a new pool can naturally fit into your landscape. He’ll look at the layout and explain the care we take in our construction to make sure your pool is as strong as it is beautiful. We want you to feel confident that your investment is in good hands from day one.
Detail and Inspiration
This is where we really dive into the why behind your project. We’ll look at your photos and talk about how you plan to use the space—whether it’s for quiet mornings or big family Saturdays. By understanding what inspires you, we can make sure the design we create is a true reflection of your family’s style and your property’s unique needs.
Conceptual Design and Project Estimate
Once we’ve decided to move forward together, we get to work on your professional design services. Our 3D walkthroughs let you see your future backyard come to life, helping you feel the flow of the space before the first shovel hits the ground. When we present your custom design, we also provide a clear, detailed estimate so you know exactly what to expect.
Design Refinement
We want your pool to be perfect, which is why we view this as a partnership. We’ll use the initial design as our starting point and offer up to three rounds of refinements to get every detail just right. This collaborative approach ensures we stay true to your original vision while polishing the small things that make a big difference in the final result.
Project Contract
After the design and estimate feel right, we’ll provide you with a comprehensive project contract. This document is about setting us both up for success by outlining our building methods, warranties, and the path forward. Our goal is to be as thorough as possible from the start so that every part of our partnership is defined. By building this foundation of clear communication now, we can move into the construction phase with a shared understanding and total trust.

There is no difference in the final product. They are all terms used for the same premium custom construction method. “Concrete” is simply the overarching material, while gunite and shotcrete are the premium application methods that allow us to build without joints or seams. For a pool and spa combination, this is essential. It means your elevated spa, integrated steps, and spillways are sculpted together as a single, rock-solid feature that blends beautifully into your landscape.
