linear pool with pavers

Patios and walkways are more than just low-maintenance backyard stations for grilling hot dogs. Patios and walkways can be a part of our lifestyle by extending our family room into the outdoors.

Azalea Pools and Outdoor Living will work with you to design and install a patio and walkway that would provide a cohesive unity with the other elements of your outdoor space.  Our designs can form a foundation layer for additional features such as outdoor kitchens and grill islands, fire pits, fireplaces, seat walls, and more.  Our experienced staff is not only ICPI certified, but also has 20+ years of experience in building outdoor dreamscapes for Raleigh area clients.

There are a variety of materials that can be used in patio and walkway installation but the most popular are:

  • Concrete Pavers
  • Travertine
  • Natural Stone

Concrete pavers are mold-formed concrete modulated blocks at least 2 3/8 inches thick.  Pavers can be molded into different shapes, colors, and sizes. Some pavers, like tile, can have color throughout or just stamped on the face of the paver.  With its high compressive strength of at least 8000 psi, pavers are more durable and can handle more weight than standard concrete or asphalt. We recommend several paver brands including Cambridge, Belgard, and Techo-bloc.

Travertine is very popular, especially as a pool surround.  If you want your outdoor space to remind you of a Roman bath, then travertine will be perfect. Travertine is the best material available to help achieve that beautiful timeless Italian feel.

Natural stone is another popular choice for patio installation.  If using natural stone, you will be dealing with bumps, ridges, and varying heights and weights. Irregular flagstone pieces have a more rustic look. While cut, geometric shapes are more formal.

By working with Azalea Pools and Outdoor Living, we strive to bring your outdoor living vision to reality.  If you live in the Raleigh, Wake Forest, Cary, Chapel Hill area, we would love the opportunity to work with you to create a wonderful patio and walkway space.  Contact us today
